Default NSX Successor On its Way Confirms Honda Chief

Many a Honda fanboy is under the impression that the brand has lost its way, putting too much of a focus on green technology and not enough on driving enjoyment and performance. But Honda is looking to restore faith in the company by merging the two ideas says President Takanobu Ito, confirming that it is working ‘very hard’ on a spiritual successor to the car.

What exactly that means is unclear, but Ito says it will be exciting to drive but also a green machine. That being said it is expected to sit as a flagship not only for Honda’s performance side, but also for its hybrid technology.
The previous NSX successor was killed off due to cost cutting measures, and that might not have been the worst thing as the front-engined V10 exotic seemed to depart significantly from the Honda performance philosophy. Expected to be a hybrid (and possibly a plug-in hybrid) if the NSX is any indication, look for this car to wow fans with agile handling and impressive packaging rather than astonishingly high performance numbers.

This is great news. Something to compete with the R8 and Gallardos would be amazing to see.

So they'll be turning the NSX into a low powered hybrid. How expected of them. They'll call it the CRZABC??

the acceleration that's possible with an EV is insane - they could make something really special here if they do it properly.

Yep, they could. But they won't. I remember seeing that episode of Xcars (or whatever that show is) where engineers had to come up with a performance electric or hybrid vehicles. One of the cars was fully electric and put out something stupid like 700+ft/lb of torque. Still though, I don't see Honda doing that.

They'll just release it as a CRZ Type-R ffs.

If done properly......... the CR-Z could have been special as well........but look what we got.

If it is going to be a hybrid, I hope I don't have to work on the damn thing.

I'm not keeping my hopes up for a worthy successor. I'll stick with the old model, whenever I can afford to buy one.

This is good news!! I wonder how it will compare to the old nsx. Ayrton senna had his hands all up in the previous car and thats a major reason it was so good.

It'll look amazing, yet have 100ft/lbs of torque, and 12* horsepower. Big deal.

I would hope that it is a gasoline powered car with some sort of KERS system like Ferrari offers; an electric hp boost.

Funny you say that, as the '12 Civic Si receives a lower reving, lower torque (than my Spec-V), way more body roll than my Dad's 2.0S (okay about the same) and finally an exhaust manifold nicely brazed into the cylinder head.

Yep, no headers for the Honda fans!

They're been on/off this project for 10 years.

    Don't hold your breath.
